SEE THE ELEPHANT is an interactive workshop in visual and musical storytelling. Actual journals of people around the world come to the California Gold Rush of 1848 will be interpreted through student workshops presented in 3 Promise Zone libraries. Project producer Kalí Kamaria will lead VAPA educators in leveraging connections to nearby schools’ curriculum and activities. Adjunct to Asian Story Theater’s new THE GOLDEN RULE, a musical stage production based on the same history; exhibit and show excerpt will end each workshop session.
Workshops are planned for March-April 2020, specific dates to be announced here and at libraries, roughly straddling Black History month and Chinese New Year celebrations in February, and the lead-up to Asian-Pacific Islander Heritage month in May.
